Meet The Team.......
Driving Instructors Night Out.
"We had a very nice Indian meal at the Polash Restaurant in Abbeymead, Gloucester, recently. Not all of us could make it, but in the photo on the right, is me, John Lowe, opposite Lis Lowe, Tom Lowe in the middle, opposite Lisa Lowe and Martyn Brewer, opposite Julie Brewer at the end of the table. They are great driving instructors and deserve a treat every so often. The instructors who couldn't make it, Nick, Charlie, Ian and their partners will get their turn at the next night out, which won't be too far away." John Lowe, Driving School Owner.
John Lowe is the Driving School owner and one of the automatic driving instructors.
" I was very nervous of driving, but with two small children, it became a necessity, so I chose automatic. By the time I passed I absolutely loved driving! John was calm and kind from the first lesson and I actually passed first time. It didn't seem to surprise John, but it surprised me! Now I drive everywhere in my Mondeo automatic. My husband is delighted as well."
"I had failed my test twice with a national driving school, so I decided to try automatic. A friend recommended John Lowe, so I phoned them to book up. Right from that phone call it was different. They actually cared! Learning in the automatic was lovely and I passed my test pretty quickly. I can't thank John enough."
"I chose automatic because of being so busy. John taught me to drive really well and I passed first time. The manager at work was so pleased, he got me an automatic company car and promoted me! Thanks to all at John Lowe Driving School."
Tom has been with us as a driving instructor for about 10 years and is as popular as ever. His naturally calm and pleasant nature certainly goes down well. He covers both Gloucester andCheltenham and at present has a nice new Fiesta.
He is a very talented guitarist and somehow is able to conjure well known tunes out of thin air, always with his trademark smile. He is married to Lisa, who is a teacher in Cheltenham and they have two lovely daughters, Daisy and Freya. They live in Longlevens.
"Tom came to my rescue just when I needed him. I had been with another driving school and it was so erratic, I wanted to give up. My husband phoned Lis at John Lowe Driving and was impressed, so booked up a lesson for me. Tom was completely different, reliable and polite. His teaching methods seemed to make it easier and I eventually passed. Thanks, Tom!"
" I had learnt the basics with my Dad when I started with Tom, and was surprised that I was doing so much wrong. He was very positive and soon had me on the right track. My friends are all with him now."
Lis Lowe is our office manager in charge of customer services. She sees that our students are allocated to the most suitable driving instructor, deals with the driving instructors diaries, and answers the numerous queries that can crop up. She will confirm all of the arrangements by text, so that eveything is clear.
She is enormously experienced and awfully nice, so she can always help with any situation.
Martyn, has been a driving instructor with John Lowe Driving for over 10 years and has a reputation as a really nice guy as well as a great instructor. He is always gaining new students through recommendations and is a very reliable operator. He is an expert golfer and has recently completed a year as club captain at Lilliebrook Golf Club in Cheltenham. He is married to Julie and they have just moved to a lovely new house in Brockworth.
"Martyn was a very good instructor and I passed first time with him. He really knew his stuff and was always on time, in a good mood and we did a new subject each lesson, so it didn't take too long."
" I had been let down by two other driving schools, one a national company and the other a small independent, and I was thinking they were all as rubbish. A friend recommended John Lowe Driving School and Martyn was my instructor. What a difference! I got on really well and passed first time."
" My friends from school recommended Martyn and he was great. I had a few problems with reversing at first, but he showed me some tricks to line up the car, and before long, I could do it. I'd really recommend Martyn."
Martyn is a dedicated motorcyclist as well. Here he is on his Harley Davidson.
Nick has been with us as an Instructor for around 10 years. He has always been very enthusiastic regarding continuous professional development and has attended several courses and really gone the extra mile to be fully up to date with the latest instructionaltechniques. As well as being an expert with learner drivers, he is also able to train potential driving instructors, which is a seperate skill altogether. Nick is very accomplished and his pass rates speak for themselves. He is a very good dancer, from ballroom to samba, and a keen golfer.
He is married to Julie and lives in Gloucester.
"Nick Butters was a wonderful driving instructor and I passed first time. He always made it clear what we were doing each lesson and I really enjoyed learning with him."
"Nick was great to learn with, always on time, nice car and easy manner. He seemed to enjoy his job and that helped me a lot. I found some parts of driving hard, but he got me through all the problems and I passed! Thanks, Nick."
"I had been with another driving school and hated it! I thought I would never be able to learn. A friend recommended John Lowe Driving and Nick was my instructor. He was such a difference, very professional with a totally different approach. I passed first time as well."

She said I needed a bit more practice, and after only five more lessons, I took my test and passed! Jackie was great and gave me the final push."
The price of a driving lesson is only one of the factors that you should consider when making your choice of driving instructor.
Deciding where to spend your money on driving lessons is not really like going out shopping, seeing the product you want and then shopping around for the best deal, as several shops will sell the same item, but will price them differently.
Driving instructors cannot be compared like for like. They may drive around in similar looking cars but the instruction and customer service they offer can vary enormously. Some instructors, once qualified, sit back and never take any additional training to keep up with new developements.
The Driving instructors at John Lowe Driving take part in CPD which is continued professional developement that ensures that they are at the forefront of the many changes taking place with in the industry. We have weekly meetings to chew over the multitude of events that take place, and very often find ways to improve our customer service. It's important to get together regularly anyway.
Value for money.
There are driving Instructors who are reliable, have first class teaching skills, years of experience, high pass rates and many satisfied customers. These instructors stay busy for a very good reason, not because they are the cheapest in town but because their customers benefit from properly structured lessons and modern teaching skills, which ultimately translates into fewer driving lessons needed and a higher proportion of first time passes.
On the other hand some instructors still teach old methods and have poor customer service skills, which will mean that more lessons and tests are required, which in the end will be a lot more expensive.
If you are paying for driving lessons, your driving instructor must be on the DVSA register, and must display his licence on the car windscreen. A fully qualified instructor will display a green badge, and a trainee (part qualified) instructor will display a pink badge.
All of the instructors at John Lowe Driving are fully qualified and will display their green badges.
